Furniture Donations

We try to provide the best possible furniture to our clients, believing that offering them high quality items is an important part of re-building their dignity and self respect. For this reason we do not give the furniture away, but we charge nominal prices so individuals can feel they have ownership of the items and are not just receiving a handout.

This means that we cannot accept items unless they are suitable for our clients' needs, or are able to be sold through our Furniture Shop to raise funds for CCA.

Please note that for administration purposes, ALL furniture donations need to go through the Furniture Donation Desk:

Phone 0118 951 2338

or email warehouse@ccam.org.uk

A viewing will be arranged when our van crews come to look at the furniture. If we can use the items we will normally take them away at the same time.

As from the 1st of November 2016, we cannot accept any donations at the Furniture Shop on Silver Street, but our Charity Shops and the Support Centre will still accept all clothing and bric-a-brac donations as usual.

Our most urgent needs are:

  • Bed bases and mattresses

  • Bunk beds

  • Chest of drawers

  • Wardrobes

  • Gate-leg dining tables with chairs

We also accept:

  • Settees under 6'

  • Fireside chairs

  • Gate-leg dining table and chairs

  • TV stands

  • Coffee tables

  • Bedside Cabinets

  • Bookcases

All mattresses, divan bed bases, and upholstered items must have a fire label, or we cannot accept them.

This is a legal requirement.

Collection Areas

We are only able to collect items within the Reading area:

  • Tilehurst in the west

  • Woodley in the east

  • Caversham in the north

  • Whitley and Whitley Wood in the south

  • Sonning Common, Purley-on-Thames, Winnersh, Wokingham, and surrounding areas are subject to vehicle availability and what items  have been offered.

Thank you to all our furniture donors. Your support enables us to give furniture to people moved into empty premises, and through the funds from furniture sales we can offer a range of other services to people in Reading.
