Our People

Our core staff rely heavily upon a large number of enthusiastic volunteers who freely give their time. CCA would simply not work without them.

Day to day operation of CCA is in the hands of Ann-Marie (Managing Director) and her team of managers;

Ann-Marie Paterson - Managing Director
Ann-Marie took up the post of Managing Director in August 2008, following some time seeking God as to her future. Ann-Marie brings a wealth of experience from her career as a senior midwife in the NHS over more than 25 years. She is married to Nigel and they have two teenage children. They enjoy walking particularly in the hills and mountains.

Ann-Marie's direct reports are;
  • John Turner - Operations Manager
  • Donette Buckeridge - Oxford Road Shop Manager
  • Jacqui Pullen - Whitley Manager
  • Mark Hill - Sonning Common Manager
  • Mireill Haviland - Southcote Manager
  • Tom Wedd - Silver Street Manager
  • Rhod Chisholm - Warehouse Manager
  • Rosemary Sandbach - Administrative Support
  • Siân Hooley - Administrative Support

The following trustees oversee the charity;

Peter Spriggs - Chairman
Peter has spent his whole life in the Reading area. With two married children in other parts of the country he now lives with wife Petal in Mortimer. After running his own business for some thirty years he is technically redundant having sold the company. A member of Greyfriars Church , involved with many committees, Peter stepped down after being Chairman of the CCA Trustees to work with Prue Magee in the day to day oversight of the charity until Alan Magness was appointed at the beginning of 2004. Since June 2004 Peter has resumed the chairmanship.

Sally Harlow - Secretary
Sally has been a trustee of CCA since 2002. She is also the company secretary. She lives in Caversham. She attends Greyfriars Chuch, which she appreciates very much and where she belongs to a home group. She works in a solicitor's practice in Oxford and wanted to use her legal expertise and work skills in a way that had some eternal value. Through contact with Peter Spriggs, she came to join the CCA Board of Trustees and feels very fortunate and honoured to be involved with CCA and all that God is doing through CCA.

Paul Witcher
Paul is a self-employed Chartered Surveyor married to Geraldine and has two married children. He has lived and worked in Reading all his life. Paul travels to Croatia on a regular basis where he and Geraldine are involved with missionary work, working with three churches based in and around Zagreb . Paul started working with CCA in 1995 as a volunteer driver on a ‘one day a week’ basis, and still drives occasionally when needed.

Vic Hills
Vic is the Chief Executive of Reading YMCA and has been a Trustee of CCA since early 2005. He brings a wealth of experience to us from many years' involvement in the community and working in partnership with statutory, voluntary and community sectors. Among his community interests he is a member of the Reading Voluntary Sector Forum Committee, Chairman of RCVYS and an RBC/PCT Compact Representative. He has a passionate commitment to seeing people's lives restored whatever their background.

Emma Johnson
Emma joined CCA as a Trustee in mid 2005. She works for Reading Social Services with particular responsibility for child protection and Children in Care. She is married to Andy, and they have three young sons, Jack, Toby and Harry. Together they worship at Brookside Church.
Grace Turner
Grace first became involved in CCA in 1996 and left in 2004 to live in the US.  After returning from the US in 2006 she developed a schools programme here in Reading called ‘Child Assault Prevention’ which she trained for while living in the US. Grace leads a team of facilitators teaching children how they can keep themselves safe from Bullying, Stranger Assault and Assault by a familiar Adult.  Grace is married to David and has two daughters. She was invited to become a trustee in 2009.

Martin Haley
Martin has been a supporter of CCA since 2000 and a trustee since 2010. He is married with three young children and lives in Caversham. Martin is a member of Greyfriars Church where he co leads a homegroup with his wife and is a director of the church’s trading company. When he’s not occupied with family, church or CCA, Martin runs a medical education business and is involved with academic research projects at Oxford and Buckingham Universities. Martin hopes that his commercial experience will help to contribute to the growth and development of CCA.
Laurence James
Laurence was appointed a trustee of CCA in December 2011. He is married with two children and four young grandchildren. Now retired, he has held a number of senior financial roles in multinational corporations but most recently as Finance Director of a national charity. He and his wife are members of Our Lady of Peace RC Church where he serves on a number of committees and also with Loddon Valley Pastoral Area.
